Growing up is HARD.
Navigating friendships, relationships, family dynamics, school and work can be overwhelming, especially as you're trying to figure out who you are and what you want in life.

It doesn't have to be so hard.

You could have peace and balance in your relationships and responsibilities and have a deep sense of knowing yourself and where you're headed. You could have a therapist who believes in you, has your back, sees your true and authentic self, and helps you make life more manageable.

Sound like something you'd like to explore?
Hi, I'm Emily!
I'm so glad you're here. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist, I have spent the past 8+ years working with teens and young adults in schools and clinical settings to be their most authentic selves. Teens (and their parents) often seek me out when they are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss, or relationship issues, or if they are having difficulty living their authentic truth. I am LGBTQ+ allied, non-binary allied, and racial justice allied. I use evidence-based practices to ensure quality service, and my goal is for you to feel safe, seen, heard and understood during our work together so that you explore your identity and find true, lasting healing.

If we work together, I will help you face your struggles with courage, knowing you have a therapist who will support you through each step of the process.

I look forward to diving in with you!

What to Expect
Step 1: Reach Out
Fill out the contact form below, and I will respond via email within 48 hours to schedule your free 15-minute consultation.
Step 2: Attend Free Consultation
During your free phone consultation, we will talk by phone to determine if I am the right fit for you (or your teen). If so, then we will decide on a regular weekly or bi-weekly time to meet.
Step 3: Complete Paperwork
I will send you an e-mail with a link to create a login for your (or your teen's) new client portal with SimplePractice and how to access the telehealth portal for our virtual therapy sessions. This will take you to a webpage to complete your intake paperwork before your (or your teen's) first appointment. If you are wanting to use insurance, I will send a link that will ask you to input your insurance details to verify whether or not I am in-network with your plan.
Step 4: Get Started with Therapy
In our first 2-3 sessions, we will spend some time getting to know one another, and I may ask you some follow up questions from your intake paperwork. We will explore your goals for therapy and how you hope your life will be different after our work together. I will then use this information to create a treatment plan that will guide our work together.

What is your Cancellation/No Show policy?Clients are required to cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible to pay the Late Cancellation/ No Show Fee of $75 if cancellation is less than 24 hours. In the event that you are unexpectedly sick less than 24-hours before a session, please give me ample warning that you will not be coming and I will work with you to reschedule your session within that week so that you may avoid the fee. If a reschedule within the week is not possible you may be charged the Late Cancellation/No Show Fee. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time but your out-of-pocket session fee remains the same.
-
What is Telehealth?Telehealth allows clients to connect safely and virtually with their therapist through secure appointments on their computer, laptop, or mobile device. To prepare for our sessions, try to find a quiet and private room or space and I highly recommend the use of headphones privacy.
-
How inclusive is your practice?I am committed to fostering an inclusive and affirming space for everyone, including those of diverse races, sexual orientations and gender identities (LGBTQAI+), and spiritual and/or religious beliefs. I support the Black Lives Matter movement, embrace neurodiversity, advocate for the disabled community, and recognize the importance of intersectionality. Your unique identity is not only respected here but celebrated and recognized, as we work together towards your goals and wellbeing.
-
How do you use Play Therapy in Telehealth sessions with teens and young adults?I use various creative and expressive techniques to explore and address emotional challenges. This may include art, music, storytelling, or other forms of play to encourage self-expression, identify patterns of behavior, and promote healing. It provides a non-traditional yet effective way for teens and young adults to communicate and process their thoughts and emotions in a therapeutic setting.
-
Do you offer a sliding scale payment?I do offer a set number of sliding scale spots for reduced rates to make counseling services available to those who financially need them. If you are interested in learning more about this offering, please bring this up with me during our free consultation.
-
Do you offer in-person services? At this time, I am only offering telehealth sessions. I will send you a simple link that you will visit to connect to our sessions.
-
How often will our session be?To get started, I typically suggest that we meet weekly or biweekly (once every other week) so we can get to know one another and really dive in on your goals for our work together.

I am happy to provide you with a superbill at the end of each month that you can submit to your insurance company for possible partial or full reimbursement of the session fee.
